Ceremonial Whip from Phuket Thailand

• Location- Phuket, Thailand 

• Estimated Age- 21st Century 

• Used in the Phuket Vegetarian Festival (Nine Emperor Gods Festival) during ritual ceremonies. These whips are used by the Ma Song to help drive away harmful spirits while offering protection to participants. 

• The handle is made from wood and hand painted while the whip itself is made from natural fibers. The overall length is 78" and the woven fibers are about 2" thick.
